- Kasteler Families of Rüschegg, Switzerland
This document contains Kasteler families living in Rüschegg, Bern, Switzerland from the late 1500's through the 1800's. The top-most ancestor, Anthoni Kasteler, is in both the Wahlern Kastler family tree and this document. According to the Wahlern Kastler documents and books, his birth place is listed as Wahlern, however this document lists it as Rüschegg. Wahlern is about 7 kilometers (4 miles) from Rüschegg. Wahlern may have been used as the birth place because it was the nearest parish at the time, as Rüschegg wasn't a parish until 1860. Some of the families overlap, however the tree splits, and the name Kasteler continued in Switzerland, where the Wahlern Kastler families moved to the Alsace region and the spelling changed.
This document contains more families than the original 2019 version. Images were originally printed from microfilm and later scanned. This same microfilm was later digitized by the Mormon church, and the quality is much higher.
Taken from "Kasteler family of Rüschegg, Bern, Switzerland" by Julius Billeter.
