a) BIOGRAPHY: Jacob Showalter and his brothers-in-law, George and JohnSnyder, were the administrators of his father-in-law Jacob Snyder's estate in Frederick Co, VA in 1804. On 15 March 1808, he purchased land in Fayette Co, PA from Alexander McClelland, and resold it back to its former owner the following year. His father, Ulrich, had moved to Georges Twp, Fayette Co, PA in1807. In both deeds relating to these transactions, Jacob and his wife, Dorothy, are referred to as being from Frederick Co., VA. In the 1810 census for Frederick Co, VA. under Jacob Showalter: 2 males between 10-16 (Valentine & Moses) 1 male 26-45 (possibly a hired hand) 1 male 45 and older (Jacob himself) 2 females between 10-16 (Catharine and Polly) 1 female 26-45 (possibly a housekeeper) 1 female 45 and older (Dorothy, his wife)

b) Dorothea Snyder is mother of: Polly Showalter (*?), Catharine Showalter (*?), Andrew Showalter (*?), John Wesley Showalter (*1789), Jacob Showalter (*1793), George Showalter (*1795), Valentine Showalter (*1800), Moses Showalter (*1804) and Nimrod S. Showalter (*1808)
