Mar 3, 2003: George works for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, division of state parks, as chief park naturalist. This family starts with George W. Kastler, born September 21, 1875, in Amboy, Illinois, USA. I have not been able to connect George's family to a larger group, but he probably belongs in either the Wahlern, or the Westhoffen Kastlers.

Apr 12, 2005: With information provided by a marriage license I obtained from Lee County, Illinois, I have found that George W. Kastler's father was Nicholas Kastler from Freeport, Illinois, and his mother was Louisa Krahmer. I was then able to locate census records that showed the parents of Nicholas were Mathias Kastler from Prussia, and Susan (?) from Holland.

Henri's grandfather Maurice Kastler was brother to the famous stamp collector Henri Kastler, who is mentioned on the Chronicles page. The oldest member of this family is currently Jean-Jacques Kastler, born aproximately 1765. His son, Jean "Henry" was born 1796 in Mittelbergheim, Alsace. There is currently no link to a larger family. This family will most likely in the future join the Westhoffen, Wahlern, or Marbach Kastlers.

The oldest known ancestor in Ralph's family is Maximin Kastler, born approximately 1800. Most of his ancestors were born in Husseren les Châteaux, Haut-Rhin, Alsace. I believe Ralph belongs to the Marbach Kastlers family, since the last generation in that family are all from Husseren les Châteaux.

Martin's grandfather Albert Kastler was born in Lorraine, France in 1922. Most of the family currently lives in Saarlouis and Nürnberg.

Arno sent me his family tree starting with Philipp Kastler, born Apr. 17, 1807 in Oberesch, Saarland. Oberesch lies very near the French border, and is also only about 25 kilometers from Scheiden, Saarland (of the Saarland Kastlers family group).

Feb 21, 2006: I believe that the side-branch of the Saarland Kastlers (see here) holds the family of Arno's ancestors. I have requested further research into this possible connection.
