Master Chief Martha J. Kastler was born 24 December 1964 in Canandaigua, New York. She graduated from Honeoye Central School, enlisted in the Navy on 09 April 1984 and completed Recruit Training in Orlando, FL.
Master Chief Kastler’s first tour of duty assignment was NAS Bermuda Annex. Her next tour assignment was aboard USS PUGET SOUND (AD 38), homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. She then reported onboard USS GRAPPLE (ARS 53), homeported in Little Creek, Virginia in November 1988. While onboard USS GRAPPLE she qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. She was then assigned as Instructor, Service School Command Orlando, FL where she taught Quartermaster “A” school. She transferred to Navigation Department LCPO, USS WILLAMETTE (AO 180), stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI where she was promoted to Chief Petty Officer. She then reported onboard USS CIMARRON (AO 177), while onboard USS CIMARRON, she qualified as Underway Officer of the Deck. In December 1998, her next assignment was Commander in Chief Pacific Fleet where she assigned as Executive Assistant to the Pacific Fleet Master Chief. While at Commander in Chief, Pacific Fleet, she was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer. She then transferred to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, IL in March 2000 as the Military Training Department LCPO. While at RTC, she was promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer and selected for the Command Master Chief program. Her current tour assignment is onboard USS MCFAUL (DDG 74), as the Command Master Chief.
Awards include Navy/Marine Corps Commendations Medal with two Gold Stars, Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two Gold Stars, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, Navy Battle “E”, Navy Good Conduct Ribbon with four Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, Navy Arctic Service Ribbon, Navy/Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon with One Bronze Star, Navy Rifle Ribbon, and Navy Pistol Expert Medal.
